The Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library seeks a Bibliographic Assistant IV to:
1. Assist n pre-indexing (preliminary cataloging) periodical issues to be indexed by Avery Indexers. Creates preliminary Avery Index records by transcribing and entering into Avery Index Voyager production System: author, title, descriptive information, and journal citation information from architectural articles in European and English languages, for journals/articles selected by Avery indexers. The work is done by creating and using a variety of templates within the Voyager cataloging system or successor systems. Makes corrections to Avery Index records as directed by indexers and General Avery index Editor. Maintains Avery Index Periodical sorting shelving and routing. (60%)
2.Assist, train and review student assistants who assist with pre-indexing periodical issues to be indexed by Avery indexers(15%)
3. Using Voyager acquisitions, cataloging, and circulations clients has secondary responsibility for checking in over 1,700 periodical titles in many scripts such as Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, East Asian and Middle Eastern. Distributes periodical issues to Avery Indexers and Bibliographers. Maintains monthly statistics for these activities.(5%)
4.Working with Marked item report search CIO, OCLC etc. to identify and claim missing issues (10%)
5. Perform pre-order book searching tasks(3%).
6.Perform other duties as assigned(7%)
This position is Mon.-Fri. 9am to 5pm
Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant High School Diploma or GED
Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Excellent communication skills and computer skills needed.
Knowledge of one European foreign language is required
Preferred Qualifications Library experience, and knowledge of serials and periodicals highly preferred. Knowledge of an Integrated Library System, such as Voyager, highly preferred.
