State University of New York at Oswego -- Learning Technologies/Reference Librarian Penfield Library of the State University of New York at Oswego seeks an innovative, service oriented librarian to fill an exciting new position of Learning Technologies Librarian. Review Date: Review of applications will begin July 12, 2011, and will continue until the position is filled. Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience of Senior Assistant librarian. Anticipated Date of Appointment: September 1, 2011 Description of Responsibilities: As the Library develops a variety of functions central to the design of a “Learning Commons,” this position offers a unique opportunity to promote academic success through the integration of information services, resources and technologies. Working closely with librarians and staff, the Learning Technologies Librarian will provide leadership in the creation of new services and instructional venues, which will be designed to assist students and faculty with the creative application of current and emerging technologies. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position with faculty status at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. Major roles will include the following: Assisting students with the integration of learning technologies and multimedia into their assignments; helping to create spaces that support group study and creative collaboration; teaching librarians and library staff to expand the technical assistance they now provide; assisting library faculty with the creation of instructional and promotional tools; and promoting the capabilities of the library’s technology-rich spaces and services through outreach programming. The position will include participation in reference services, including virtual reference and some evening/weekend hours, working as subject liaison with selected disciplines, and providing information literacy instruction for classes in liaison areas. Library faculty are expected to serve on departmental and campus committees, make scholarly contributions to the field, and maintain ongoing professional growth. Required Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; teaching experience in both one-on-one and classroom settings; demonstrated knowledge and experience with current and emerging technologies that contribute to meeting the scholastic needs of students, including the use of social media, Web 2.0, and multimedia production; demonstrated skills utilizing several of the following: Office productivity software, digital audio and video production/editing products, streaming video, course management systems, graphics software, and web authoring tools; excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students and faculty; experience working with multicultural populations. Description of Department: Penfield Library is a dynamic, innovative, and learning-centered environment serving students, faculty and staff at SUNY Oswego.
